Buildings and Grounds Maintenance WTP

Performs all duties to maintain a superior appearance of building and grounds at the Water Treatment Plants. Performs maintenance in and outside of buildings including routine janitorial, grounds maintenance, painting, lighting, and other related maintenance activities as assigned by supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs cleaning duties as needed to maintain superior appearance of interior and exterior of building.  This includes, but is not limited to, cleaning floors, windows, furniture, and breakroom and emptying waste bins and disposing of trash.
  • Cleans and disinfects restrooms and restocks supplies as necessary.
  • Performs general grounds/landscaping maintenance including, but not limited to, cutting grass, pressure washing, weed eating, bush hogging, and pruning.
  • Performs general maintenance duties including, but not limited to, minor and routine painting, lighting, and plumbing.
  • Reports the need for maintenance and repair; may submit work requests.
  • Maintains basic records of work performed. 
  • Assists with cleaning basins, including preparing hoses and turning valves.
  • Assists Plant Operators as needed with loading chemical machines along with other operational duties.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Georgia Driver's License. Must be at least 21 years of age.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel; talk or hear and taste or smell.  The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
