Fee Changes! Irrigation Meter

CHANGES TO IRRIGATION METER MONTHLY FEE

Effective November 1, 2022

Who this affects:  All customers who have a dedicated irrigation meter.

What am I paying now?  Base fees are only charged on the months that you use your irrigation meter.

What will I be paying after November 1st?  Base fee will be reduced by 50%, but you will be charged this reduced rate each month, regardless of consumption.

Example:  The base fee for a ¾” RESIDENTIAL irrigation meter is currently $12.89 for

each month that has consumption.  Effective November 1, 2022 the base fee will be $6.45

every month, regardless of consumption. (Rates will vary depending on meter size)

What if I don’t ever use my irrigation meter?  The meter can be locked off and deactivated on your account.

Is there a charge to deactivate my irrigation meter?  For a limited time, HCWA will deactivate the meter on your account free of charge.  All requests for a courtesy deactivation must be received no later than October 14, 2022. 

What if I decide to deactivate my irrigation meter after October 14, 2022?  HCWA will charge a $25.00 deactivation fee.

What if I decide I want to use my irrigation meter again?  HCWA will charge a $150.00 reactivation fee.

Additional Information:

  • Please be aware that locks removed by anyone other than HCWA will be subject to the reactivation fee as well as additional tampering and damaged equipment fees. 
  • Reactivation requests made on commercial accounts will require a current backflow certification.
